Don Liebentritt, J.D. (Vice Chair)
Don Liebentritt has been an attorney and advisor to numerous businesses and ventures. His work has been transactional and deal oriented, and involving business management and counseling and dispute resolution of all kinds, including bankruptcy. He has served as an officer and director of many companies and organizations.
Mr. Liebentritt worked with a private investment firm in Chicago for over 30 years. He joined the organization in 1982, after spending six formative years with a small Chicago law firm specializing in commercial real estate. He was a principal of the investment group's in-house law firm until the law firm's dissolution in 1999, was the investment group's president from 2001 through 2005, and a senior advisor until 2011. He was a member of the board of managers of an Illinois registered trust company responsible for the oversight of the family wealth comprised of the assets managed by the investment group, from the trust company's formation in 1999 until 2014, most of that time as its president/chairman. He was the Chief Restructuring Officer of Tribune Company, a Chicago-based national media conglomerate operating businesses in publishing and broadcasting, from September, 2010 through January, 2013, having joined the company as general counsel in 2008.
He is on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Arts and Sciences of Loyola University Chicago, and a member of the Board of Directors of Brother Rice High School in Chicago. He is a program volunteer for, and former board member of, Children’s Oncology Services, Inc., the sponsor of the One Step At A Time recreational programs for pediatric cancer survivors.
A native of Chicago’s southwest side, Liebentritt is a graduate of Brother Rice High School (1968), Loyola University Chicago (A.B. 1972) and the University of Chicago Law School (J.D. 1976).
